I am not a big fan of any form of rhetoric rating either, Fooly Cooly, but first of all:
For the record, I have not rated this scene at all, which is what I do when it is not my cup of tea in particular.
Secondly: Someone giving this scene a 5/10 rating is actually to choose to rate it but to give a mathematically neutral rating. Problem is, how you evaluate things in a 1-10 rating system, as opposed to a simple «press like»-system, can be understood by different criteria by different users.
Thirdly: Girl-girl does not sell it for me at all. It is all nice and beautiful, but it isn't it. But then how can it still be that I from day one have liked ALSscan for close to 25 years? As you often say yourself; one person's preferences should not be presented as guidelines for other subscribers.

Agree with you that the girls are hot. Agree with you the rating system (but not in this instance) might be used to give «negative» ratings. But please let us agree, as well, that the only obligatory preference here is enjoying ALSscan erotica.

I've noticed that when scrolling on my phone, it is easy to accidently give a low rating. Especially when scrolling with my left hand.

I always go back and correct it, but it is a nuisance.

Yes, I'm guessing that the "5" came from somebody who doesn't like girl girl. But in that case, I wish they did what you do and just not rate it. They could leave a comment that they don't like girl girl. But to rate it poorly implies that it could have been a lot better better girl girl.

You are right that a single number isn't going to cover all the different things we might want to rate and everybody will make their own choices. But I wish people would use the ratings for how much they like the girl (or girls) and if they think it is a good example of a type of scene, like a good fisting scene or a so-so one. If somebody hates bananas and loves cucumbers, it would be nice if they just said so and didn't try to "ratio" all the poor bananas.

I'm going to disagree with you about the "5" though. The way people have been using the ratings here, they treat it like grades in (American at least) school. Actually, more like grades in graduate school where you can get an "A" or a "B", or a "you should consider a different career". That actually makes sense: like a good grad school, ALS is quite selective. Only very attractive girls get offered a shoot.

I don't ever look at the site on a mobile device, so I haven't had that issue. That would indeed be a nuisance. And, yeah, I hadn't considered that some of the low scores could be mistakes.

Again: The problem is, the 1-10 rating system is open to different interpretations:
The mathematically "neutral" or average score would be 5 out of 10.
In a "press for like" system, you would give it 10 out of 10 for things you like, and otherwise nothing.
Or (which I absolutely did not think of) as a school grading system, you would use the full scale.
And if many members rate things as either 10 ("like") or zero (which in effect will be an invisible response), while others rate things as grades (giving "3"s or "5"s as often as "10", you end up with discussions like this one, in "how could anybody rate this scene in a way that does not make sense to me at all"-fashion.

I like there to be a system for (positive) rating of photo sets, individual photos and videos; because there is just so much awesomeness to give a thumbs up to.
But I really wish it would be just that; a simple thumbs up "press for like" rating system. :)
